Rising like a phoenix from the diverse and colorful Los Angeles music scene, Scarlett and The Fever is a 7-piece musical group founded and led by female singer/songwriter and keyboardist, Scarlett Brais. Their R&B roots blend with jazz, funk, classic and neo-soul elements to serenade the spirit by the likes of Moonchild, Hiatus Kaiyote, Vulfpeck and Silk Sonic.
Scarlett is a passionate songbird and captivating front woman. Her ability to set a vibe and move audiences is in close collaboration with “The Fever''- a team of seasoned musicians who hold an impressive array of musical backgrounds and influences. The rhythm section stokes the fire of The Fever and is composed of lead keyboardist, JR Calilung, drummer Chris Paniagua, bassist Antonio Carter, and guitarist Ben Ede. The horn section amplifies The Fever’s harmonious intensity and includes Gladys Ng on trumpet/vox and Ben Al-Mateen on trombone/vox. Their spirited stage presence creates a contagious energy that ignites one's senses like a FEVER. So much so that audiences have dubbed the phrase “we got the fever” when describing their experience at a live show.
Inspired by the power that female singer/songwriters and musicians command, Scarlett grew a burning passion to dedicate her life exclusively to music. This passion led to Scarlett’s establishment of the band in 2014, thus creating the opportunity to collaborate and grow with other like-minded musical visionaries. Since Scarlett and The Fever’s conception, they have capitalized on the art of refined showmanship as a means to create effectual musical compositions and spread their magnetic energy. They released their self-produced, full-length debut album in 2016 titled Soul Ready, which led to live radio performances and interviews on KXLU 88.9fm, KUCI Radio, and KPFK 90.7 FM.
Scarlett and the Fever are public-spirited and passionate about supporting their community and local causes. A few organizations they have joined forces with are The Braille Institute of America, Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and No Us Without You. In 2017, the band made their national television debut with a live broadcast feature on ABC 7 in support of Spark of Love. They have also performed at the LA County Fair, Garden Grove Amphitheater, The Echoplex, and La Mirada Theater.
In 2019, Scarlett and The Fever collaborated with producer/bassist John Avila, from new wave band Oingo Boingo, to conceive their latest EP Unbreakable. The band’s ability to merge components from a variety of genres into one unified style and sound was highlighted in Unbreakable through their use of thought-provoking lyrics, and creative energy. In June of 2021, the group released an R&B/pop ballad titled “Run Away,” which included a beautiful music visual, filmed in the Mojave Desert.
Fast forward to 2025, Scarlett and The Fever is immersed in the creation of their next full length album, which is set to encapsulate neo-soul, jazz and R&B influences, as well as encompass themes of consciousness and spirituality. Experimentation with poetry, spoken word, jazz hop rhythms, and etheric soundscapes will be established throughout this project.
